FLOWER CARE TIPS AND TRICKS

General
Check the water supply immediately upon arrival. Add lukewarm water as needed.
If floral foam is used, make sure it is always thoroughly saturated.
Keep vase full by adding water daily.
Display your fresh flower arrangements in a cool location out of direct sunlight. Avoid excessively hot or cold areas such as air conditioning or heating units. NEVER place on or near the TV. Check your arrangement daily to make sure it has plenty of clear, fresh water.
Remove flowers from the arrangement as they die to prolong the life of the remaining flowers.
As some of the flowers expire in your arrangement you may want to rearrange the remaining flowers. To rearrange any flowers, re-cut the stem ends under water using a sharp knife or scissors. Use a clean container with warm water and floral preservative. Then, insert each flower back into the arrangement. If floral foam is used, be sure to insert the stems firmly and deeply.

Make fresh flowers last longer
Always keep the water level topped up in the vase or container which holds your flowers. When cutting the stems of your flowers, always use a sharp knife and cut the stems on an angle. Scissors or a dull knife can crush the stem of a flower and reduce the amount of water that can reach the bloom.
Never place your fresh flowers where there might be a warm draft, such as, the top of a refrigerator or beside a heating vent.
Fresh flowers last longer when they are at room temperature or lower.

For best results, use floral preservative.
Always try and use floral preservative in your vase water.
Preservatives can extend the life of an arrangement by 3 to 10 days, depending on the flower. Preservatives have important bacteria killers. Mix the preservative with room temperature water.
If no preservative is used, change the water every 2 days to keep it fresh.

Preservative recipe you can make at home:
Add to 1 quart water: 2 tbs. fresh lemon juice
1 tbs. white sugar 1
/2 tsp. household bleach

If you run out of the food for your fresh flowers simply add a few tablespoons of 7-UP or Sprite to the water. These beverages contain citric acid which is one of the ingredients contained in a package of flower food.
